||||
**NOTE: Calinet Telephone Technical Support no longer offers telephone based support for Windows 95 based computer systems due to Microsoft's July 11th, 2006 end of Lyfecycle Policy. More information can be found here
Step 1 To begin creating a Dial-Up Connection, click the Start button, then click Run and type in inetwiz and click Ok. The Internet Setup Wizard will open and provide a Welcome window. Click Next to continue.
Step 2Now we must select how to connect to the Internet. Since you will be connecting to CIC Wireless using your modem you will select Connect using my phone line. Click Next to continue.
Step 3 Now you should select I already have an account... on this How to Connect window.
Click Next to continue. Step 4 On the Internet Mail window you should select No, I don't want to use Windows Messaging
CIC Wireless does not support the Windows Messaging included with original Windows 95. You will need to download and install Internet Explorer with Outlook Express Email after your connection is created. Click Next to continue. Note: Do not misplace your Username or Password. You will need both when you use Dial-Up and Check Email. Step 5 Now we must enter a name for the Service Provider.
The name you enter here is just so you know what this connection is called. We recommend entering Calinet Click Next to continue Step 6 You must now enter the phone number your modem should dial to connect to Calinet
Click Next to continue Step 7 You now need to enter the Username and Password you requested when you subscribed for CIC Wireless service.
If you subscribed for service online you would have been shown the Username and Password at the competion of the Signup Wizard. If you subscribed over the telephone, our Staff would have verified this information with you. Your Username is also your complete Email Address. Click Next to continue. Step 8 For the IP Address window, you should leave selected My Internet Service Provider automatically assigns me one.
Click Next to continue The Windows 95 Wizard asks for DNS Server Addresses although they are not needed and could cause problems if entered.
Leave the two DNS Server fields blank. You will receive an error as displayed in the next Step, this is safe to ignore. Click Next to continue Step 10 This error message is simply verifying that you want to continue without providing DNS Server Addresses
Click the Yes button indicating we do NOT want to provide this information. Click Next to continue Step 11 Congratulations!
You have created a Dial-Up Connection to CIC Wireless. Click Finish to complete the Wizard. |
