How do I setup my Dial-up account on Windows XP?

Step 1
To begin creating a Dial-Up Connection, click the Start button, then click Run and type in inetwiz and click Ok. The New Connection Wizard (also called the Internet Connection Wizard) will open and provide a Welcome window.

Click next to continue.

Step 2

The Network Connection Type window allows you to select the type of connection to create.

In this case we want to select Connect to the Internet.

Click next to continue.

Step 3

The Getting Ready window asks you to choose how you want to connect to the Internet.

We want to Set up my connection manually.

Click next to continue.

Step 4

Now we must select how to connect to the Internet.

Since you will be connecting to CIC Wireless using your modem you will select Connect using a dial-up modem

Click next to continue.

 

Step 5

If you have more than one modem in your computer (sometimes in the case of a laptop or other), you will be presented with the Select a Device window asking which modem to use.

Select the modem you wish to use by clicking the checkbox next to it.

Click next to continue.

Step 6

Now we must enter a name for the connection we are creating.

The name you enter here is just so you know what this connection is called. We recommend entering Calinet.

Click next to continue.

Step 7

The Phone Numer to Dial window is asking you which phone number your modem should dial to connect to CIC Wireless.

(Your Calinet Sales rep will provide you with a local phone number to use when you setup you account.)

Click next to continue.

Note: Do not enter the area code (the first three digits) of the access number. It is shown in this screenshot simply for reference purposes. You will be dialing a local number so an area code is not necessary.

Step 8

On the Internet Account Information window you will need to enter the Username and Password which was provided to you when you created your account with CIC Wireless.

If you subscribed for service online you would have been shown the Username and Password at the competion of the Signup Wizard. If you subscribed over the telephone our staff would have verified this information with you.

It is recommended that you leave the 3 checkboxes checked (on) or turn them on if they are not checked.

Click next to continue.

Note: Do not misplace your Username or Password. You will need both when you use your Dial-Up and check Email.

Step 9

Congratulations!

You have created a Dial-Up Connection to CIC Wireless.

You might want to turn the checkbox on to create a Shortcut to this connection on your Desktop for easy access.

Click finish to complete the Wizard.
